Description

Margaret Sanger Signed Copy of My Fight for Birth Control.
New York: Farrar & Rinehart, 1931. First edition, octavo. vii, 360 pages. 9 photographic plates. Black cloth bound boards with gilt lettering to spine. Signed boldly by Sanger on the front free endpaper.

As a nurse in New York City early in her career, Sanger became convinced that birth control was necessary for social justice and pioneered its use during the early 20th century, despite breaking federal anti-obscenity laws and being exiled to England by doing so. In 1966, Sanger passed away after achieving her life-long dream a year earlier with the Supreme Court case Griswold v. Connecticut, which legalized birth control in the United States.

Condition: Some discoloration and scuffing to boards. Bumping to corners and spine ends. Toning and foxing to interior pages.
