Description

Eighteenth-Century English Road Maps

Thomas Kitchin. Kitchin's Post-Chaise Companion, Through England and Wales; Containing all the Ancient and New Additional Roads, with Every Topographical Detail Relating Thereto. London: Robert Sayer, John Bowles and Carington Bowles, 1767.

Oblong quarto. Six pages of text, followed by 103 pages of engraved maps.

The simple paper wrappers are showing some toning. Pamphlet has been folded over to fit into contemporary polished roan cover with tie. Much of the front wrapper missing. The title page and first two leaves are beginning to split at the fold. Overall, a very good copy, with all of the copperplate maps fresh and clean.
