Description
Washington Irving. Works. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1884, 1885.27 volumes, 8vo. Uniformly bound in half brown crushed morocco and marbled boards, spines decorated in gilt, boards ruled in gilt. Illustrated with plates throughout, tissue guards.
HUDSON EDITION.
Condition: Mild edgewear to boards. Remnants of a removed bookplate to front pastedown in Vol. I (early Strutz bookplate covering most of the remnants). Textblock lightly but evenly toned; scattered finger-soiling.
Provenance: H. P. Bowditch (gift inscription, dated "Xmas 1885"); purchased from Goodspeed's Book Shop, Inc., Boston, in 1958; William A. Strutz (early bookplate in each volume). From the William A. Strutz Library.
