S[øren]. Kierkegaard. Kjerlighedens Gjerninger. Nogle Christelige Overveielser i Talers Form. [Works of Love]. Copenhagen: C. A. Reitzels Forlag, 1847. First edition, association copy, inscribed by the author (signed "Forfatteren") for Johan Ludvig Heiberg, a poet and professor at the University of Kiel credited, in part, with introducing Hegel to Denmark. Two parts in one volume; octavo (7.75 x 4.875 inches; 198 x 125 mm.). [2, blank], [ii, title-leaf], 224; 203, [1, blank] pages (note: title-leaf of the second part included in pagination). Black letter. Contemporary glossy black paper-covered boards; original (presumed) leather backstrip laid down, lettered and ruled in gilt; all edges gilt; plain endpapers. Boards lightly rubbed; minimal wear to joints and backstrip; spine ends rubbed; board edges worn at the corners; corners bumped. Endpapers browned; pastedowns somewhat foxed, endpapers to a lesser degree; later (dated 1888) bookplate affixed to the front pastedown with some very faint offsetting opposite, over the inscription; occasional light, marginal foxing throughout the text.
