Robert Louis Stevenson. New Arabian Nights. London: Chatto & Windus, 1882.2 volumes. Half-titles. With 32 pp. publisher's advertisements dated May 1882 at end of Vol. II. Publisher's light green cloth, decoratively stamped in black and red, spine lettered in gilt, front covers lettered in black; quarter morocco folding case.
FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, of Stevenson's collection of short stories including "The Suicide Club" and "The Pavilion on the Links." With the correct first issue points: page 155 of second volume misnumbered "55," and "Maletroit" misspelt "Maledroit" on page 179 (Vol. II). In the First State binding with floral endpapers.
Condition: Bindings slightly leaned; spines lightly toned with two small abrasions repaired near lower joint on Vol. I; joints and extremities a little rubbed; corners bumped ; minor rubbing and soiling to covers; rear hinge tightened in Vol. I; other hinges tender or starting (one cracked).
