PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper: "University of Chicago / Feb. 15, 1986 / To Terry Boone, / some stories that I hope you will like about a world I knew when it was all trout unlimited long before anyone dreamt trout would ever be limited. / Norman Maclean / Dartmouth 24."
Terry Boone was vice president of the New England chapter of the conservation organization, Trout Unlimited.
