FIRST EDITION. With a lengthy inscription by the author on the front free endpaper recto, signed and dated "Feb. 4 '40 / Hollywood," less than a year before his untimely death. Octavo. Publisher's red cloth, printed paper spine label. Original illustrated dust jacket. Housed in a custom quarter red morocco and red cloth clamshell, spine lettered in gilt.

Condition: Spine sunned, boards with a few minor stains, some edgewear. Some toning to textblock. Dust jacket unclipped ($2.00), rubbed and with mild toning, somewhat worn, a few chips and short tears.
