Henry/of Wyomissing/from John Updike/of Shillington/by way of thanks for/her most kind and generous/and provocative letter and/with best wishes to the/Berks County cultural/mission abroad./(I seem to have mispelled [sic]/"Shearers" on page 270, [spelled "Schearers" on that page with Updike's ink notation]/but that's typical of how/we do things back home)". Octavo. [x], [281], [5, blank] pages. Publisher's coral cloth backstrip over greenish-gray paper boards, front cover stamped in silver, spine stamped in gilt and silver, dust jacket. Jacket toned, mildly sunned, creased and rubbed, small tape residue on verso of jacket, binding rubbed. A very good copy. From the collection of Alexander J. Jemal, Jr.
