Description

John Hersey. Hiroshima. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1946. First edition. Octavo. 118 pages. Publisher's green cloth with gilt spine titles. Original pictorial dust jacket. Noticeable wear to the boards. Spine cloth darkened. Vertical crease to last few leaves. Some expert restoration to the jacket. Very good. With a very interesting Autograph Note Signed laid in in which Hersey answers a postcard question regarding the "one book all high school students" should read. Hersey answers, "Hiroshima...because I think every young person should know what atomic war or nuclear war can be like." From the Jerry Weist Collection.
