Description
James Joyce. Dubliners. London: Grant Richards, 1914. First edition, one of approximately 746 copies. Octavo. 278 pages. Bound in the original publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt.An excellent copy of what has been described as the finest set of short stories in the English language.
Condition: Some edgewear, corners a touch bumped and rubbed, faint scattered staining, head and tail pushed, spine sunned, staining to head. Text block edges toned, lightly foxed, top edge dusted; bookseller notations to endpapers. Pages generally toned, as usual in all copies; a few pages with light foxing to margins, heavier to pages 42-43. Otherwise, internally clean and tight. Housed in a custom clamshell box by The Chelsea Bindery of quarter red morocco and red cloth, ruled and lettered in gilt, and lined with red velvet. Very good.
