Description

John Dickson Carr. To Wake the Dead. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1938. First American edition. Octavo. 195 x 140 mm. [8], 274 pages. Publisher's orange cloth stamped in blue, in the original illustrated dust jacket. Light edgewear, corners a touch bumped, head and tail pushed, faint scattered staining to lower board, some rubbing to top edge of upper board. Unusually tight, possibly recased, text block edges toned, top edge dusted, fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, hinges tight, pencil notation to rear pastedown and final binder's blank recto, faint staining from glue adhesive to endpapers. Internally clean and bright. Dust jacket decoratively clipped and priced "$2.00"; scattered staining, soiling all-over, a few small tears along edges touching rear panel, some crinkling to inner flaps; spine expertly restored with some color correction. Very good book in very good dust jacket. From the Gary Munson Collection
