Description

James Lee Burke. Half of Paradise. Boston: 1965. First edition, signed.

More Information: James Lee Burke. Half of Paradise. Houghton Mifflin Company, 1965. First edition, signed by the author on the half-title-page. Octavo. [viii], 312 pages. Publisher's brownish yellow cloth, front board lettered in brown, spine stamped in brown and lettered in white; top edge stained brown; in original dust jacket. Sizeable, but not structurally impairing, dampstain to all but board interiors, lightly fading the cloth with a slightly darker tidemark; corners very softly bumped. Top stain faded with two light streaks going across from dampstain; lower corners of front endpapers very lightly browned with dampstain; small square of faint offsetting to upper portion of front free endpaper; rear free endpaper with some very light cockling at upper edge. Dust jacket with extensive dampstaining as well, covering all but interior of front and rear panels, predominately visible on verso, rear panel and flaps; some discoloration to lighter portions of front and spine panels; triangular bruise to lower portion of front panel near joint fold. A good, sound copy with a singular intrusive, but not compromising, fault. The author's debut novel. From the KoKo Collection.
