Gilbert's binding B (no priority). Inscribed by Fleming on
the front free endpaper, "To / S. Frost / from / Ian
Fleming."Octavo. 253 pages. Publisher's Type B black cloth stamped in red and silver; original illustrated dust jacket.
Condition: Head and tail a touch pushed, text block edges foxed, sometimes bleeding into page margins. Dust jacket with publisher's decorative clip (13s 6d net); folds somewhat creased, lightly toned, faint foxing to upper panel, light staining to rear, two horizontal folds running the length of the jacket, small hole on front panel near flap fold. Housed in a custom clamshell box of quarter black morocco and black cloth by The Dragonfly Bindery, spine elaborately tooled in gilt with red morocco lettering pieces; the box front reproduces the front panel of the dust jacket in intricate, multicolored leathers set against a brown cloth background. A near fine copy of the fifth Bond novel.
