Description

THE PUBLISHER'S COPY, IN THE RARE ASBESTOS BINDING

Stephen King. Firestarter. Huntington Woods: Phantasia Press, 1980.

8vo. Publisher's aluminum-coated asbestos cloth, front cover with red label stamped in silver.

FIRST and COLLECTOR'S EDITION, PUBLISHER'S COPY, limited to 26 lettered copies, of which this is letter "B." SIGNED AND DATED BY THE AUTHOR on limitation page.

Firestarter centers on a young girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic abilities and explores what happens when power falls into the wrong hands. The collector's edition is a highly sought-after limited edition, rivaling other fiery editions of popular authors.

As David Aronovitz explains: "Alex Berman and Sid Altus, owners of Phantasia Press, had an understanding whereupon Alex would get the first numbered or lettered copy of a book and Sid would get the original artwork of a dust jacket. Letter B and/or #2 would go to Sid." As this example is lettered "B," it is presumed to have belonged to Sid Altus.

A HOT COMMODITY and a rare edition for one of King's greatest works.

Condition: Spine ends and corners slightly worn; red label lightly rubbed. Quarter sized stain to limitation page with offsetting to final page of text.

References: Chalker & Owings, p. 339.

Provenance: From the collection of David Aronovitz.
