Arthur Machen. Ornaments in Jade. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1924. First and limited edition, one of 1,000 copies, this being no. 466. Signed by Machen to the limitation. With the original prospectus laid in. Octavo. 253 x 167 mm. [2], 46, [1, blank], [1, limitation] pages. Black publisher's cloth blind-stamped in diamond pattern, green printed paper label to spine, dark green decoratively printed endpapers. Corners bumped, light wear to extremities, some abrasions to paper label. Text block edges toned with light foxing, top edge stained green, fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, bookseller notation to first binder's blank recto. Internally clean and bright. Housed in original publisher's black slipcase, moderate edgewear, spine paper label toned with some abrasions, scuffing. Prospectus somewhat toned, some crinkling to edges, top leaf overextended at fore-edge. Very good.[Together With:] Arthur Machen. The London Adventure or The Art of Wandering. London: Martin Secker, 1924. First trade edition, in the original printed dust jacket. With bookplate signed by Machen pasted to front free endleaf recto. Octavo. 210 x 155 mm. 142, [2, ads] pages. Publisher's red cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. Corners bumped, lightly soiled, head and tail pushed, faint staining along edges. Text block edges toned, top edge stained red, fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, front hinge starting, endpapers toned, bookplate of Ralph D. Hartman to front pastedown, bookseller notation to top of front free endleaf recto. Pages generally toned, though internally clean. Dust jacket priced "7/6 net" to spine, soiled, scattered staining, chipping and crinkling at head and tail, tape reinforcement at folds to verso. Very good book in very good dust jacket.

Octavo. 195 x 130 mm. 189, [1, imprint] pages. Publisher's cloth, printed paper spine label, with green endpapers printed in yellow. Corners bumped, light edgewear, boards soiled, scattered staining, head and tail pushed, spine sunned, some abrasions to paper label, label toned, some wear to joints. Text block edges toned, top edge stained blue, fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, bookplate of collector and member of the Golden Dawn (like Machen) Dr. John Thomas Head to front pastedown. Very good.

First and limited edition, largely uncut. Signed by Machen to the front free endleaf recto. Octavo. 256 x 166 mm. xii, 59, [1, blank] pages + frontispiece with facsimile signature. Quarter vellum with blue paper boards, upper board and spine lettered in gilt. Boards somewhat soiled, upper board bowed, soiled, toned along edges, some scuffing with small loss to paper at upper joint, corners bumped and rubbed, some wear to extremities, head and tail pushed, scattered staining to vellum. Fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, endpapers toned, remnant of bookplate to front pastedown, frontispiece toned. Very good.
