Inked name of previous owner, poet David Emery Gascoyne, on the front free endpaper.
An early novel of interplanetary travel - from Earth to Mars and back - with some similar elements to Well's The First Men in the Moon, though published a decade earlier. Cromie's book enjoyed a fair degree of success. The second editon was issued with a preface by Jules Verne.
