Bret Harte. Poems. Boston: Fields, Osgood, & Co., 1871. First edition. Twelvemo. vi, 152 pages. Maroon cloth with beveled edges and the front cover and spine stamped in gilt and the rear cover stamped in blind. Brown endpapers. Good.

More Information:

Covers show some rubbing, bumped corners and spine ends, discoloration especially to the spine, and the gilt on the spine has almost completely rubbed off. Previous owner's name penned on front free endpaper and preliminary pages. One newspaper clipping laid in and two attached to a preliminary page. Some punch holes to the rear endpapers. Text block edges are darkened. Spine is slightly leaning and front hinge is beginning to crack.

First edition points: "S.T.K." rather than "T.S.K" on page 136, an advertisement for "The Luck of Roaring Camp" prior to the title page and "Fields, Osgood & Co.," imprint on title page. BAL 7253
