Description

August Derleth. Thirty Years of Arkham House, 1939-1969: A History and Bibliography. Sauk City, Wisconsin: Arkham House, Publishers, 1970. First edition. Twelvemo.

Black cloth back, gilt spine titles. Some corner bumps on cover. Overall, book and dust jacket are fine.

This volume, prepared by August Derleth, chronicles all the works published by Arkham House between 1939 and 1969, including those of H. P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, Fritz Leiber, L. Sprague de Camp, Ramsey Campbell, and Derleth himself. By 1970, Derleth admitted that his publishing house's dedication to producing quality volumes of "weird fiction" had been a financial failure, requiring him to shore up the company with his own personal funds. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
