Limited edition of 750 sets. This is no. 485. Published 1923-1929. All volumes near fine and nicely bound in matching purple cloth with gilt lettering on the spines. The text volumes with the original wrappers bound in. Top edges gilt. Mild edge soil, minimal marginal dampstains, not affecting text or images. Text volumes as follows: Part I--des Origines a 1660; Part II--de 1660 a 1800; Part III--19th Siecle; Part IV--Table Generale (Index). The plates are in three volumes divided into six books. There are a total of 1,392 beautiful plates with tissue guards. A comprehensive and wonderful study of French prints through the 19th century. A true tour de force of scholarship.
