LIMITED EDITION, one of 300 copies printed on paper, from a total edition of 308. Large octavo. Printed in black with section titles and should and side notes in red. Extensively illustrated with woodcut borders and initials. Publisher's limp vellum and olive green silk ties, spine lettered in gilt. Inserted slip present as called-for.

"Morris said of Beowulf that it was 'the first and best poem of the English race, [with] no author but the people,'" (Peterson).

Condition: Minor soiling to vellum. A few minor spots in text. Silk ties intact, a bit faded.
