Publisher's light bluish-green cloth, front board ruled in red with mask stamped in dark blue; spine stamped in red and blue, outlining text, and lettered in blue; publisher's device outlined with red stamp on rear board; top edge stained dark red; in original dust jacket (red variant). Cloth dulled at backstrip and board edges and slightly mottled at rear board; spine leaning just slightly; bottom edges very lightly worn, with board barely exposed at one corner. Some insignificant wear to the top edge of the text block; very faint offsetting to endpapers. Dust jacket rubbed with some color loss to the front panel; soft vertical crease through middle of the spine panel; horizontal crease of almost three inches to lower portion of spine and front panels; rear panel lightly soiled with small bruise near spine fold; edges worn; few short closed tears with paper tape repairs on verso; spine panel faintly dulled; book-of-the-month club sticker (no bibliographic significance). An about very good copy of an easily-worn book. Basis for the hugely-successful MGM adaptation directed by W. S. Van Dyke and starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles.
