Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh. No place, no date. Signed in ink,
"Ernest H. Shepard." Illustration measures 6.5 x 5.25 inches;
163 x 132 mm (sight). Framed and matted under glass to overall size
of 12.875 x 11.75 inches; 326 x 297 mm. Signature clean and clear,
sheet and illustration bright and unblemished. Fine. Not examined
out of frame.A similar illustration may be found on p. 141 of the first edition of Winnie-the-Pooh (with the positions of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh switched). A charming illustration of a memorable scene in which the two companions valiantly "set sail forthwith in a south-westerly direction, revolving gracefully," to rescue their dear friend Piglet.
