Description

[Texas Rangers]. Ira Aten. Six And One-Half Years In The Ranger Service: The Memoirs Of Ira Aten. Bandera [Texas]: Frontier Times, 1945. Contains several photographs and first person accounts of the service of Ira Aten, a Texas Ranger from 1883 to 1889. In one excerpt titled, "How Many Of Us Have Gained Out Goal?," he explains how his memoirs would have not come about if it were not for Captain John R. Hughes: "I do not believe I would have written these memoirs had it not been for Capt. John R. Hughes, who is visiting me at the time. We have talked over many events of fifty years ago, when we were Rangers together, and that brought back many recollections of the hardships suffered and thrills we experienced when our lives depended upon one another." Cover and binding are toned and worn. Toning throughout.
