York: Harper & Brothers, [1956].FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING with publisher's code "M-E." Signed by the author to the front free endpaper recto. Octavo. Publisher's black cloth over blue boards, spine stamped in gilt. Original printed dust jacket. Four leaves of inserted photographic plates.
Accompanied by a COA from University Archives, dated April 14, 2022.
Condition: Minor edgewear, head and foot of spine just pushed, lightly rubbed. Cream endpapers; minor toning along the front gutter, small penciled bookseller's notation to the rear free endpaper verso. Internally clean and tight; a few instances of light scattered foxing, text block edges with minor wear and scattered soiling. Dust jacket price-clipped; minor edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine and corners, spine sunned, rubbed and somewhat soiled. Very good book and dust jacket.
