Edited by John Gilmary Shea. New York: Bunce & Huntington, 1865. First edition. 288 pages. 6.25" x 9". Frontispiece of Lincoln, originally engraved by A. H. Ritchie. Green cloth boards with gilt stamped spine and front board. Front free endpaper to title page detached, but laid in. Internally bright and clean. Very good. Fish-853.ALS from John Gilmary Shea has been mounted to front free endpaper. It reads in part: "I have not a copy of my Lincoln Memorial...I have however requested to Huntington the publisher to give you the aforemention and have no doubt but that he will comply." Signed, "John G. Shea." A pencil notation at top right indicated it was received in 1892 From The Collection of Dr. Blaine Houmes
