London: Printed for G. G. and J. Robinson, 1796. First edition in English. Three volumes. Octavo. [iii]-l, [2], 288; [2], 383, [1]; [2], 488 pages. Engraved folding map and twenty-two additional inserted plates, six of which are folding. Full mottled calf; spine decorated in gilt with black morocco spine labels; gilt fillet decorations. All edges trimmed and sprinkled blue. Wear to edges and joints of binding; slight bumping to corners; a fair amount of chipping, creasing to backstrips and spine labels. Normal toning to edges of text blocks; top edges dust soiled. Faint, scattered foxing to plates; mended tear at inner edge of folding map. Very good. Engraved book-label with sailing ship and initals "W. A. H." affixed to front pastedowns. Brunet III, 1034 (original French edition).
