Bellini requests a copy of an aria from his opera Bianca e Fernando

Vincenzo Bellini Autograph Letter Signed "Bellini." One page, 5 x 3 ½ inches; no place; undated but circa mid to late 1820s. A letter in Italian requesting that the recipient purchase Carlo's aria from his opera Bianca e Fernando and that it be sent to him marked "Printed Matter." He references the particular aria he is wanting, "I don't remember how the lyrics read, but it is found in the third act, in ¾ time, andante." Matted and frame with a reproduction of a portrait of the Italian composer to an overall size of 17 ½ x 12 inches.

Bianca e Fernando debuted in Naples in May 1826. Although the work was met with both public and critical acclaim, Bellini revised the opera in 1828. The revised work debuted in April 1828 and again was well received.

Condition: Light, but uneven toning, with a few stray ink stains. Some showthrough from a docket on the verso. Marked "11" in light red crayon at the top right. Not examined out of the frame.
