Description

Zachary Taylor Partial Letter Signed. Two pages, 9" x approximately 6", Fort Crawford [Wisconsin], August 20th, 1829. Taylor (1784-1850) was the commander of Fort Crawford at this time and later went on to serve as the 12th president of the United States. The letter informs, in part, that "...he has paid the soldier his bounty, which he stated to be withheld." Includes partial secondary signature at the top right, and remnants of another letter on the back. Visible tears, folds, and foxing; uneven toning.
