Description

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison Land Grant Signed. One partially printed page of vellum, 15.5" x 8.625", City of Washington; April 12, 1805. A document granting "Samuel Montgomery, assignee of John Winn, a Sergeant in the late Army of the United States; in consideration of the said John Winn's Military Services a certain tract of land estimated to contain One Hundred acres... for satisfying warrants for Military Services..." Signed by Jefferson as president, "Th: Jefferson." Countersigned by Secretary of State James Madison. With embossed paper seal affixed at lower left.

Condition: Circular area of paper loss measuring .875" x .625". Pinhole of loss at intersection of folds. One corner creased. Imperfections in the vellum cross the signatures.
