Description
Thomas Jefferson and James Madison Land Grant Signed. One partially printed page of vellum, 16" x 9", City of Washington; April 12, 1805. A document granting "Samuel Montgomery, assignee of Charles Conner, a Soldier in the late Army of the United States, in consideration of the said Charles Conner's Military Services a certain tract of land estimated to contain One Hundred acres... for satisfying warrants for Military Services..." Signed by Jefferson as president, "Th: Jefferson." Countersigned by Secretary of State James Madison. With embossed paper seal affixed at lower left.Condition: Chip with minor loss at upper right corner. Slight curling to bottom edge. Small dampstain to one letter of Madison's signature.
