Description

Theodore Roosevelt Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 4.5" x 7", Nairobi, British East Africa [modern Kenya], December 17, 1909, to "Bridges" forwarding the address of Mrs. Sanderson in Nairobi. Uneven toning; else fine.

Shortly after leaving The White House, Roosevelt left for a hunting expedition to Africa to collect specimens for the Smithsonian Institute and the American Museum of Natural History. Largely financed by Andrew Carnegie, the group killed approximately 11,400 animals of all sizes. His experience in Africa led to the creation of his book "African Game Trails."
