Description
Rutherford B. Hayes Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, Fremont, [Ohio]; March 4, 1889. A brief letter to "Hon S. S. Burrows," in which Hayes tells him that he will enclose a letter of recommendation. In full:"Yours of 5th Recd. With pleasure I will enclose one of your recommendations. Let it be a short one. If beyond one page they are not read. Better still a half page. Of course I write for too many friends to have the least influence. But the facts or opinions I give or endorse may receive attention." Signed, "Rutherford B. Hayes."
Condition: Lightly toned with smoothed folds. Rough left edge where integral page was removed.
