Description
Richard Nixon Signed Copy of The Memoirs of Richard Nixon. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, [1978]. 8vo. 1120 pages. Original dark blue leather, covers and spine stamped in gilt; all edges gilt, silk endpapers, and sewn-in maroon silk bookmark. Limited edition, number 2386 of 2500 copies, signed in blue ink on the limitation page, "Richard Nixon." With certificate of authenticity from Grosset & Dunlap laid in.Includes a typed letter signed by Nixon, affixed to the front free endpaper with cello tape. It reads, in part: "I am enclosing a personally autographed bookplate. I would suggest that you dampen it lightly on the back and attach it to one of the blank pages at the beginning of the book." Signed, "Richard Nixon." The aforementioned inscribed bookplate is affixed to the page opposite the letter and reads, in full: "Ilona and Jack Porter / with deep appreciation for their loyal friendship and support over the years / from / Dick Nixon." Dated August 1, 1978.
Condition: Light offset toning to the endpapers. Bookplate with minor ink blotting at Nixon's signature, not affecting legibility.
