Description

Richard Nixon Autograph Notes. Two pages, 5.5" x 5.75", no place; no date. Handwritten notes in pencil regarding foreign policy and the communist threat. The scribbled ideas read in part: "...What position on Foreign Policy: 1. Recognize threat - its character - determination to dominate world - 2. How do we meet it? 1) Military strength - obvious 2) Allies - obvious (can't do it alone) 3) But people don't understand adequately the area of greatest danger - non-military 4) Need to step up 1) Economic Technical assistance - Loans 2) Private Enterprise - 5) Info - 6) Exchange - Leaders - doubled". Verso reads, "Differences: Foreign - Civil Rights - Economic - ."

The notes were possibly written circa 1958, when Nixon was serving as Vice President under Dwight Eisenhower. They are taken from a collection of handwritten Nixon documents collected by Nixon's biographer and New York Herald Tribune political journalist, Earl Maze, who wrote, Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait. Published in 1959, the book's source material was written near or before 1958.

Condition: With a perforation through center. Light toning at edges.
