Description

Richard Nixon Autograph Note. One page, 8.5" x 13.25", no place, circa August 1966. A sheet of handwritten notes by Nixon, outlining his campaign themes as he geared up to run for President in 1968. At the top of the paper, he writes: "To meet leadership role - America must be strong - people must be strong. America became great not because of what gov't did for people but what people did for the nation." Listing the duties that his ideal Government should perform, Nixon writes: "...Govt. should guarantee equal start / [Govt.] should guarantee that rich provides for those in need / [Govt.] not help those who refuse to help themselves / When govt. makes more profitable not to work than to work - change govt..." He concludes with the outcome of such a state: "Destroy character - no self respect dignity."

Condition: Light toning at edges. There are two staple holes at top left. Bumping and creasing to the two bottom corners.
