Photograph: General Ulysses S. Grant and Staff on a Mathew Brady Mount. 10.5" x 9". Gen. Grant is seen standing outside of his headquarters at Cold Harbor, Virginia, circa June 1864, surrounded by twelve members of his staff. Eleven of the men are identified below his image, attributed on the verso to "General Warren." Featured in the photograph are, from left to right, Lt. Col. Frederick T. Dent, Gen. Rawlins, Lt. Col. Rowley, Lt. Col. Adam Badeau, Grant, Lt. Col. Comstock, Lt. Col. Theodore S. Bowers, Gen. John G. Barnard, Capt. Ely S. Parker, Lt. Col. William Babcock, and Lt. Dunn. Not noted but featured are Col. William L. Duff and Capt. Frederick R. Munther. Mount is moderately foxed with some light foxing to the lower and left edge of the image.Auction Info
