Description

John F. Kennedy: Signed Profiles in Courage. Senator John F. Kennedy's writing of Profiles in Courage and his winning the Pulitzer Prize certainly did a lot to burnish his reputation. During its first year in circulation, JFK narrowly missed obtaining the Democratic nomination for Vice President. The work later was the basis for a television program highlighting some of the people "profiled" in the book. This is a first edition with the original dust jacket. The front endpaper is inscribed: "To Lois-- with the affectionate regards of her old boss-- John Kennedy". The recipient is identified as Lois G. Aykroyd who worked for Kennedy as a secretary on his senatorial staff (and later as Jacqueline Kennedy's personal secretary). The book itself has very minor shelf wear. There are some light areas of discoloration on the endpaper, but none of it affects the inscription or autograph.
