Description

James Monroe Signed Land Grant. One partially printed page, 13 1/8 x 9 inches, Washington, D.C.; December 30, 1824. A land grant issued to "Toliver Craig, assignee of A. K. Langham" for land in Franklin, Missouri. Signed, "James Monroe" as President. Additionally signed by George Graham as Commissioner of the General Land Office. With blind embossed paper seal at the bottom left.

Includes two engravings of Monroe. The first, published by Johnson, Fry & Co., measuring 8 3/8 x 10 7/8 inches. The second, hand-colored, published by D. Appleton & Co., measuring 6 1/8 x 9 7/8 inches; affixed to a cardstock mount to an overall size of 11 x 14 inches.

Condition: Document lightly toned with flattened folds; minor edgewear; docketed on the verso. Engravings with some foxing and staining, minor edgewear.
