Description

James Madison Signed Land Grant. One vellum page, 13" x 8.75", partially printed and completed by hand, Washington, March 15, 1815. Madison signs a land grant in which he confirms the sale of land "sold at Jeffersonville by the Act of Congress, entitled 'An act providing for the sale of Lands of the United States in the Territory north west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of the Kentucky river'". Countersigned by Josiah Meigs. The paper and wax seal of the United States General Land Office is affixed to the lower left portion of the document. Two vertical folds, gently toned; otherwise very good condition.
