Description

James Madison Scallop-Top Ship's Passport Signed. 11" x 16", Vellum, [Washington, D.C.], May 29, 1810. Issued to the ship Catharine Augusta of New York, Joab Center master or commander of the burthen of Two Hundred Fifty Six 22/95 tons or thereabouts mounted with Eight guns navigated with nineteen men. Signed by President James Madison and Secretary of State Robert Smith.

Condition: Light wear and folds, small hole at top left. Foxing at top edge and light soiling throughout. Creasing along folds and throughout document. Both signatures light. Paper seal affixed at lower left edge. Small stain to top left of paper seal.
