James Buchanan Autograph Letter Signed as President. One page, 6.25" x 8"; [Washington]; November 19, 1857. A brief letter to California Senator William M. Gwin: "Will you do me the favor of calling this afternoon at 2 o'clock." Signed, "James Buchanan." Docketed by the recipient on the verso.

Condition: Flattened folds and creasing, with show-through along left margin where there are mounting remnants on verso. Stray ink stains on verso, affecting docket. Light toning.
