Jacqueline, Caroline, and John Kennedy Jr.: Photo Signed. A color 8" x 10" Kennedy family portrait mounted to a 10.5" x 14" mat which has been signed and inscribed in the wide lower margin by Mrs. Kennedy: "For Robert Foster- With my deepest appreciation for your/ devotion to the children and to President Kennedy/ during his White House years and afterwards. We will miss you. Jacqueline Kennedy". Beneath this, Caroline has signed, in block letters, "CAROLINE" and "John". Young John Jr. has written "X X" beneath his name. A poignant memento of the close relationship Agent Foster experienced with the Kennedy family. The photo has faded ever so slightly but the inscription is clear and bold; included in the lot is an additional official copy of the same family portrait. From the collection of retired Secret Service agent Robert Foster.Included with this lot is a 2008-dated, signed and notarized Letter of Authenticity from Mrs. Margaret Foster. It states, in part: "...It was presented to my husband, Robert W. Foster, U.S. Secret Service (retired in 1978) as a personal Christmas gift in December 1964... Mr. Foster was one of the five agents assigned to the protection of Mrs. Kennedy and the children from January/February 1961 until they moved to New York City in 1964..." The letter is also signed by Paul Landis, another former Secret Service agent assigned to the Kennedy family protection.
