Description

George Washington Franked Address Leaf. One page, 6.5" x 3.75", no place; no date. An address panel addressed in Washington's hand. It reads in full: "For / Col Theo Bland / a Delegate in Congress / Philadelphia." Signed, "Go: Washington." In June 1776, Theodorick Bland became a captain in Virginia's cavalry. He eventually rose to become colonel of the 1st Continental Light Dragoons before serving in the First United States Congress until his death in 1790. COA from Edward N. Bomsey Autographs is included with this lot.

Condition: Smoothed folds with toning from age and light soiling. The verso has four areas of paper attachment and two pieces of cloth archival tape indicating previous mounting.
