Description

George Washington Document Signed, as president, partially printed and accomplished in manuscript, "G. Washington." One page, 13.75" x 12.75", no place, January 12, 1792. Being the appointment of Richard Peters a Judge of the District Court and for Pennsylvania. The signature of President Washington is bold and dark; wax seal intact. Docketed on verso by James Wilson, signer of the Declaration of Independence and Supreme Court Justice, attesting that Peters took the oath to serve: Wilson is scarce in any form.

The document is in Good condition; usual folds are present; the right edge is badly water damaged but the text is still very legible and the signature is unaffected. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
