First edition, limited to 1,401 copies, of which this is number 1,230, and signed by the Eisenhower on tipped-in facsimile of D-Day Order of the Day. Octavo. xiv, [xv, xvi], 559, [1, blank] pages. Illustrated with sixteen black and white photographic plates, six double-page color maps (including front and back endpapers), thirty-eight intertextual maps, and double-page color chart of "The Allied Air-Ground Team for the Final Offensive." Publisher's moderate orange-yellow buckram, beveled board edges, front cover lettered in black, spine stamped in black and lettered in gilt, top text block edge gilt, fore-edge and tail edge untrimmed; slipcase.Condition: Slipcase worn and soiled. Near fine overall.
