Description

Chester A. Arthur: Customs Document Signed. 8 1/2" x 14", New York; May, 1875. A most interesting document pertaining to "One Barrel Rum." Arthur, acting as a Collector, distributes monies to those listed in the first column, "...being the distributive shares of Seizure No. 1030 accruing to us, respectively in the matter of One barrel rum." Signed, "C. A. Arthur" as Collector, with others listed as "Surveyor," "Naval Officer," and "Seizing Officers." The total dollar amount was $18.70.

Condition: Edge roughness at left, five pinholes from previous binding in left margin, faint offsetting and toning, and folds from mailing. Signatures remain bold and bright.
