President Obama Writes an Absence Excuse for a School Boy

Barack H. Obama Autograph Note Signed as President. A note card with gilt embossed Presidential Seal at the top, 3.5" x 5.5", circa January 2011. The note reads, in full: "Please excuse Aaron...he was with me! Barack Obama."

Aaron was an elementary school student from Tucson, Arizona, who skipped school to attend Obama's "Together We Thrive: Tucson and America" memorial speech on January 12, 2011. The speech honored the victims of the January 8, 2011 shooting targeting Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords at a rally, which killed six and injured 13 others. The speech has been recognized as one of President Obama's most important speeches. After the ceremony, Aaron asked the president to write him a note to give his teacher to excuse his absence from school, and this is the humorous note he received.

Condition: Small spot of soiling on verso, else very good condition.
