Description

Andrew Johnson Affix the Seal Document Signed. One partially printed page, 8 ½ x 10 ¾ inches, Washington, January 5, 1867. Johnson directs the Secretary of State to "affix the seal of the United States to a Warrant for the unconditional pardon of Elijah Johnson." Signed, "Andrew Johnson." Although we were unable to learn what Johnson is being pardoned for, President Johnson sent Congress a list of high-level former Confederates he had issued pardons for on January 9. Matted and framed with a small plaque and portrait of Johnson to the overall size of 23 x 18 ½ inches.

Condition: Lightly toned, with a few spots of foxing. Frame has some wear.
