Description

Andrew Jackson Signed Land Grant. One partially printed page on vellum, 16 x 10 inches, Washington; January 19, 1833. Land grant awarding Peter Little "eight hundred and thirty three acres and thirty eight hundredths of an acre" of land in Ouachita, Louisiana. Signed, "Andrew Jackson" and countersigned by Elijah Hayward, commissioner of the General Land Office. Following the adoption of the Indian Removal Act of 1830, the U.S. government promoted the sale of previously occupied indigenous lands east of the Mississippi River.

Condition: Creased along folds and toned throughout. Several holes and separations along folds and top and bottom margin, slightly affecting Jackson's signature. Seal intact.
