Andrew Jackson Signed Land Grant from the Early Months of His Presidency
Andrew Jackson Document Signed ("Andrew Jackson").
One partially printed page on vellum, 15 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches;
Washington; July 7, 1829. Mounted to a board to an overall size of
18 3/4 x 14 inches. With blind embossed seal of the United States
at the lower left.A land grant apportioning eighty acres in Cahaba, Alabama, to "Thomas Craig Assignee of William M. Marr." Boldly signed "Andrew Jackson" as President, and countersigned by G. W. Graham as Commissioner of the General Land Office. Beautifully engraved with a large, attractive presidential signature.
Condition: Very good. Expected folds and age-commensurate toning. Minor loss at the bottom left, including a single short tear at the left, just touching the printed docket. Some wear to the spokes of the seal. Vellum affixed to the mat with adhesive at the corners only. Overall a very attractive piece, excellent for display.
